Investments Announced for Tourism Infrastructure and Business Growth

Business and tourism on the Bonavista Peninsula received a boost today with funding from the governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador. Investments in Discovery Aspiring Geopark, DIVE Ventures NL Inc. and the Fishers Loft Inn will help develop new tourism infrastructure, improve visitor experiences and support business modernization and growth.

Forty athletes from this province have been selected to attend the 2018 Special Olympics National Games in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Province’s Credit Rating Confirmed

The Honourable Cathy Bennett, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, today announced that S&P has affirmed the Provincial Government’s credit ratings (long-term ‘A’ and short-term ‘A-1’) and revised outlook from negative to stable. The Dominion Bond Rating Service (DBRS) has also confirmed the province’s credit ratings (long-term ‘A (low)’ and short-term ‘R-1 (low)’) with a stable outlook.

Province Providing Forest Fire Fighting Assistance to British Columbia

Six forest firefighters from Newfoundland and Labrador will be travelling to British Columbia this weekend to assist local authorities with ongoing forest fire suppression efforts in the province. They will partner with colleagues from Prince Edward Island to form a fire suppression team that will be deployed where required throughout British Columbia. It is anticipated this deployment will last two to three weeks.
