The Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will announce a new resource for parents as part of the 10-year child care strategy, Caring For Our Future. The announcement will be held at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, September 2) at the Conception Bay Family Resource Program, 974 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South.

Seniors, Wellness and Social Development

The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation, on behalf of the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Seniors, Wellness and Social Development, will participate in a Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre announcement tomorrow (Wednesday, September 2) regarding the expansion of the Dr. Noel Browne High Performance Centre and the adjacent Powerplex.

Health and Community Services

September is being recognized as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in Newfoundland and Labrador in a continued effort to encourage prevention and early detection.

Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development

The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, will make a significant funding announcement in Harbour Breton today (Tuesday, September 1) at 7:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Elliott Premises.

Justice and Public Safety

The Provincial Government today announced that the Town of Gaultois will receive funding toward the purchase of a new $130,000 rural response unit. The announcement was made in Gaultois by the Honourable Darin King, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Minister Responsible for Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador, where he was joined by Tracey Perry, MHA for Fortune Bay - Cape La Hune.

Environment and Conservation

The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

Justice and Public Safety

The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Minister Responsible for Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador, will make a funding announcement tomorrow (Tuesday, September 1) at 3:00 p.m. at the Lion’s Club in Gaultois.

Health and Community Services

An investment of over $1 million by the Provincial Government will support the purchase of new equipment and infrastructure upgrades at health care facilities on the Burin Peninsula.

Advanced Education and Skills

The final series of Workforce Development Roundtable Discussions for 2015-16 will take place in September throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. These sessions are a key component of the Workforce Development Action Plan, which is an initiative of the Population Growth Strategy, and are designed to gather input regarding the employment and human resources needs and challenges throughout the province.

Transportation and Works

Through an investment of approximately $825,000 under the 2015-16 Provincial Roads Program, a number of roads in the District of Exploits will receive upgrades and improvements this construction season. The contract for this work was awarded to J-1 Contracting Limited of Clarenville in late July, and work is currently underway.

Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development: Research and Development Corporation

The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development and Minister Responsible for the Research & Development Corporation (RDC), today announced appointments to the RDC Board of Directors.

Education and Early Childhood Development

Window and door replacements highlight a $1.7 million investment in upgrades to MacDonald Drive Junior High in St. John’s.

Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs
Environment and Conservation

The Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, and Allan Scott, Chairperson of the Central Regional Service Board, announced the official opening of the new materials recovery facility in Norris Arm today.

Health and Community Services

Health care services on Newfoundland and Labrador's southwest coast will be strengthened through a Provincial Government investment of approximately $150,000.

Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs

The Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, will officially open the materials recovery facility in Norris Arm tomorrow (Thursday, August 27) at 12:00 p.m. The event will take place at the materials recovery facility on Norris Arm North Access Road.

Justice and Public Safety

The Town of Cartwright will receive funding from the Provincial Government towards the purchase of a new tanker truck for the Volunteer Fire Department. Funding for the $250,000 vehicle is being provided on a 90/10 cost sharing basis with the province providing the larger share.

Environment and Conservation

The Department of Environment and Conservation has completed a climate change flood risk mapping study for the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip's.
