Office of the Seniors’ Advocate
The Seniors’ Advocate is very concerned about the impact of increased cost of electricity on all citizens, but particularly on lower income seniors. In the past six months the Advocate has received numerous phone calls, emails, letters, and held face to face meetings with groups of seniors. It is well known that very basic of human needs include food, water, warmth and rest yet seniors have consistently expressed concern about their financial ability to provide for the physiological need of warmth.

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, accompanied by Mark Browne, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, today toured Rutter Inc., for a demonstration of its latest innovation for marine and marine-adjacent industries: the real-time capability to predict the movement of waves. The technology will increase safety and efficiency for operations such as helicopter landings, crew transfer, lifeboat launches, and equipment transfer.

Supporting Regional Visitor Information Centres Across the Province

This funding builds upon the $1.2 million investment made by the Provincial Government to the eight Provincial Information Centres, including Deer Lake Airport and St. John’s Airport which are open year round.
