Gold Medallist Katarina Roxon Honoured for Paralympic Achievements

In recognition of the achievements of Paralympic Gold medallist, Katarina Roxon, the Provincial Government is naming Route 490 Roxon Way. The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, made the announcement today at an event at Confederation Building to acknowledge the success of Ms. Roxon at the Rio 2016 Paralympics Games.

RDC Now Accepting Applications for 2017 High School Enrichment Awards

The Research & Development Corporation (RDC) is now accepting applications for the 2017 Research Inspired Student Enrichment (RISE) Awards competition. RISE Awards provide Level II high school students in Newfoundland and Labrador with the opportunity to attend research-related enrichment programs in Canada and the United States. The awards are open to students who demonstrate academic excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and who will be completing Level II by June 2017.
Public Invited to Canada’s Only Screening of 1916 Film Battle of the Somme

The British High Commission – as a gift to Newfoundland and Labrador – are presenting a free public screening of the remastered 1916 film The Battle of the Somme along with a live performance of Laura Rossi's 2006 accompanying score, performed by the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Chamber Orchestra. This is the first and only time this film is being shown in Canada.

Seafood Innovation and Transition Awards over $1.8 Million

Province’s Tourism Marketing Campaign Nominated for National Awards

Newfoundland and Labrador’s tourism marketing efforts have been nominated for two top marketing awards presented by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada. The province’s Find Yourself marketing campaign is a finalist for the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Marketing Campaign of the Year Award. In addition, the innovative Paint the Town Contest launched in May of this year is a finalist for the WestJet Social Media/Digital Marketing Initiative of the Year Award.
