The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced $38.8 million for projects that will support significant improvements in municipal infrastructure, as well as bring benefits to residents and businesses. The money is being allocated under the Small Communities Fund and provincial Municipal Capital Works program.

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will make a significant announcement tomorrow in Botwood that will benefit many municipalities throughout the province. The announcement will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Botwood Flying Boat Museum, which is located at 12 Airbase Place. Premier Ball will be joined by the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment; Jerry Dean, MHA for Exploits; and Scott Simms, Member of Parliament for Coast of Bays – Central - Notre Dame, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.

Today, the Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, released the final report from EY which assessed the status of implementing the April 2016 interim report recommendations related to planning and forecasting, contingency and risk management, and overall project governance and project reporting. The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, will be available to media today (Thursday, August 31) to discuss the EY report on the Muskrat Falls Project immediately following a technical briefing for media beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the Natural Resources Building, 50 Elizabeth Avenue, 7th Floor.

To support the inclusiveness and accessibility of communities in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Provincial Government is inviting applications for its Accessible Taxi Program. Through this program, taxi operators are able to improve the accessibility of their vehicle fleet.

The Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, announced today that the new Paradise Intermediate will be built just off McNamara Drive, in Paradise. Minister Kirby was joined by Tony Stack, CEO/Director of Education with the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District on behalf of Board Chair Goronwry Price, Mayor Dan Bobbett and councillors of the Town of Paradise for the official unveiling.

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, has formally requested that the Government of Canada revisit its decision to end the 2017 federal Fishery Guardian Program in September, before the end of the salmon angling season in October.
