Justice and Public Safety

Municipal Affairs and Environment

Derek Bennett, Parliamentary Secretary for Children, Seniors and Social Development, will announce investments in infrastructure in the communities of Embree, Twillingate and Crow Head tomorrow (Wednesday, September 13) on behalf of the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment. He will be joined by Scott Simms, Member of Parliament for Coast of Bays - Central - Notre Dame.

Education and Early Childhood Development

The Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, will participate in the announcement of the new Conception Bay South public library site location tomorrow (Wednesday, September 13) at 11:00 a.m. The event will take place outside of the Conception Bay South Town Hall, 11 Remembrance Square, Conception Bay South.

Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation

Graham Letto, Parliamentary Secretary for Natural Resources, on behalf of the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will make funding announcements related to business and community development in Labrador West. He will be joined by Yvonne Jones, MP for Labrador. The event takes place at 10:10 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, September 13) at the Labrador West Arts and Culture Centre, 503 Hudson Drive, Labrador City.

The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, will speak at a performance of Canada, It's Complicated this evening (Tuesday, September 12) at 8:00 p.m. at the St. John's Arts and Culture Centre.

Executive Council

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will be available to the media today (Tuesday, September 12) following his address to the Federal Cabinet. The availability will take place at approximately 10:15 a.m. at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland, which is located at 115 Cavendish Square in St. John’s.

Natural Resources
Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation

The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, will provide a keynote address at the first Labrador MINEx Conference tomorrow (Tuesday, September 12). In addition, the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will speak on InnovateNL. Minister Coady will speak at the Royal Canadian Legion, 717 Mcparland Drive in Labrador City at 12:00 p.m. Minister Mitchelmore will speak at the Arts and Culture Centre in Labrador City at 3:00 p.m.

Fisheries and Land Resources

The Provincial Government is continuing to support the diversification and growth of Newfoundland and Labrador’s seafood industry with investments of approximately $1.8 million to date in 2017-18 as part of the $2 million Seafood Innovation and Transition Program.

Municipal Affairs and Environment

The Provincial Government has awarded Stanissu-Stantec Limited Partnership a contract for $247,000 to conduct Phase II Environmental Site Assessments at the former Mid-Canada Line military radar sites in Cartwright and Border Beacon in Labrador. Assessment work is expected to be completed by December 2017.

Service NL

The Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister of Service NL, today offered her condolences to the family and friends of Edward Smith. Mr. Smith was a valued member of the province’s Buildings Accessibility Advisory Board.

Fisheries and Land Resources

Derrick Bragg, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries and Land Resources, will join members of the Fogo Island Co-op on Monday, September 11, to highlight projects funded to date for 2017-18 under the provincial Seafood Innovation and Transition Program.

Health and Community Services

The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, will speak at Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine 50th Anniversary Gala tonight (Friday, September 8).

Transportation and Works

Following a Request for Proposals, the Provincial Government has awarded a contract to EY, valued at $1.7 million for financial and procurement advisory services for the new acute care regional hospital project in Corner Brook.

Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation

Investments from the Governments of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada are enabling the Town of Springdale to carry out further studies for its proposed marina development. The studies will provide additional data to support the marina feasibility study and engineering plan completed in 2015 and strengthen the town’s decision-making process to ensure a successful marina development.

Advanced Education, Skills and Labour

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced Rosalie Simon of St. John’s as this year’s recipient of the Council of the Federation Literacy Award. The announcement coincides with the 50th anniversary of International Literacy Day on September 8 with this year’s theme being Literacy in a digital world.

The Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, was joined by Pam Parsons, MHA for Harbour Grace - Port de Grave, in Upper Island Cove to announce a new rescue vehicle for the community.

Executive Council

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced 25 members of the Premier’s Youth Council. The new council will provide advice to government on select topics of interest from a youth perspective.

Health and Community Services

Carol Anne Haley, Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Community Services, will speak at the Candlelighters Association of Newfoundland and Labrador’s ceremony to recognize September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month tonight (Thursday, September 7).
