A value-for-money assessment completed by EY has recommended the Provincial Government partner with the business community to procure a new 94-bed, adult mental health and addictions facility to replace the Waterford Hospital.

The Provincial Government today released Grant Thornton’s report on staffing and payroll of all private and community road ambulance operators in Newfoundland and Labrador. The review was a result of public concerns about ambulance availability and staffing across the province triggered by issues in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Today, the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, along with representatives from Vale, the Nunatsiavut government, Innu Nation, and NunatuKavut Community Council, announced a $23.6 million project led by the Labrador Aboriginal Training Partnership (LATP). This includes approximately $3 million from the Provincial Government and over $9.6 million from the federal Skills and Partnership Fund (SPF).

Today, at an event in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, along with the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, officially announced the 15 members of the Board of Directors for the 2019 Labrador Winter Games.

The Governments of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada, together with the College of the North Atlantic, announced investments totalling more than $1.2 million towards a new, state-of-the-art mining training simulator, launched today at the college’s Happy Valley-Goose Bay campus.

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced $440,000 in funding for the Early Childhood Development Association in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Premier Ball was joined at the announcement by the Honourable Perry Trimper, MHA for Lake Melville.

Transportation and Works

The Governments of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada are investing approximately $64.5 million to improve a section of the Trans Labrador Highway. The funding was announced today in Happy Valley-Goose Bay by the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Yvonne Jones, Member of Parliament for Labrador on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.
