Autism Society to Establish Clean Technology Greenhouse

As part of their social enterprise activities, the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador (ASNL) is partnering with Trades NL and Iron & Earth East to design and build a year-round greenhouse that will use clean technology to produce sustainable food products. To facilitate this project, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is contributing $50,785 and the Government of Canada is providing a non-repayable contribution of $60,000.

The Provincial Government is seeking input from employees and employers in response to an application from industry stakeholders requesting to designate the Sprinkler System Installer trade as a compulsory certified trade in Newfoundland and Labrador. Only registered apprentices and journeypersons may work in a compulsory certified trade.

Public Advisory: Public Reminded Not to Feed Wildlife Following Increased Fox Sightings in Flatrock

Fisheries and Land Resources officials remind the public not to feed wildlife or leave unsecured food or garbage where animals can access it following increased observations of foxes in the Flatrock area. Unsecured food and dumping of garbage are typically the root cause of wildlife conflicts in human populated areas. There are existing prohibitions on dumping garbage in all areas outside of designated municipal waste disposal facilities.
