Executive Council

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, participated in an event today recognizing exceptional public service employees who were presented with the Public Service Award of Excellence. Premier Ball was joined by Elizabeth Day, Clerk of the Executive Council.

Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner

The Information and Privacy Commissioner, Michael Harvey, has released his Report A-2019-026 under authority of Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015. A summary of the Report is included below.

At a ceremony today (Friday, September 27), the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will recognize this year’s recipients of the Public Service Award of Excellence.

Fisheries and Land Resources

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, will officially open the Agriculture Expo tomorrow (Friday, September 27). The event takes place at the Corner Brook Civic Centre at 6:45 p.m.

Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will participate in the grand opening of Torbay Common tomorrow (Friday, September 27). The grand opening of the new facility will take place at 8 Kinsmen Place, Torbay, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Finance

The Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, today announced that S&P and DBRS have once again confirmed the provincial government’s credit ratings.

Executive Council

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will bring remarks to the Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association’s 26th Annual Cold Harvest Conference and Trade Show closing gala tonight (Thursday, September 26).

Finance

The Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, will be available to the media today (Thursday September 26) to discuss S&P and DBRS' confirmation of Newfoundland and Labrador's stable credit rating.

Municipal Affairs and Environment

The Honourable Derrick Bragg, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

Fisheries and Land Resources

Elvis Loveless, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries and Land Resources, was in Elliston today to sign a Municipal Habitat Stewardship Agreement that will help protect wetland and coastal habitat located within the town’s planning boundaries.

To help diversify the economy and support economic development on the Burin Peninsula, the Provincial Government announced today it has entered into an Environmental Indemnification Agreement with Marbase Marystown Inc. This agreement facilitates the completion of Marbase’s purchase of the Marystown Shipyard.

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will make an announcement relating to economic development for the Burin Peninsula tomorrow (Thursday, September 26). The announcement will take place in the Main Ballroom of the Delta Hotel, 120 New Gower Street, St. John’s at 9:00 a.m.

House of Assembly

The House of Assembly Government Services Committee wishes to advise it will be conducting public hearings related to its review of the draft Bill, Real Estate Trading Act, 2019.

Children, Seniors and Social Development

Derek Bennett, Parliamentary Secretary for Children, Seniors and Social Development, will bring greetings at the 2019 School Sport Canada National Meetings tomorrow (Thursday, September 26). The event takes place at the Delta St. John’s Hotel and Conference Centre, St. John’s, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Advanced Education, Skills and Labour

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, will speak at the Multicultural Women’s Organization of Newfoundland and Labrador’s annual general meeting this evening (Wednesday, September 25). He will be joined at the event by the Honourable Carol Anne Haley, Minister Responsible for the Status of Women. The meeting takes place at the Nuport Building, 44 Torbay Road, St. John’s, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

On behalf of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, we welcome the Office of the Seniors’ Advocate’s first report. This report, entitled, ‘Long May Your Big Jib Draw: Setting Sail’, focuses on systemic issues impacting seniors throughout our province.

The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, provided an update on Towards Recovery: The Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan for Newfoundland and Labrador this morning during a national ‘Stigma Ends With Me’ workshop at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland in St. John’s.
