In the coming months, flag poles will be erected in both border-crossing locations and official ceremonies will be conducted to commemorate these at that time.

I want to thank event sponsors from industry and academia and congratulate all participants, in particular the 48 gold medal winners from the annual competition who will now represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the national skills competition in Saskatoon in late May.

New Ferry for Fogo Island and Change Islands Launched in Romania

The MV Veteran was launched on Friday, March 27, at Damen Shipyards in Romania and is now entering the final stage of construction. The new ferry will service Fogo Island and Change Islands and is expected to arrive in the province in fall 2015.
Investigation into Illegal Moose Hunt Leads to Conviction

A recent investigation by Fish and Wildlife Enforcement officers in the Cape Pond area near Tors Cove on the Avalon Peninsula has resulted in convictions against five individuals for illegal hunting.

Bike Helmets Become Mandatory in All Communities April 1
