Seven Projects Funded Through the Healthy Aging Research Program

Seven research projects that focus on healthy aging have received a total of $108,980 through the Newfoundland and Labrador Healthy Aging Research Program. The program provides support for a wide range of research related to the utilization of health care, chronic pain and health care education for seniors.

Public Advisory: Labrador Residents Encouraged to Vaccinate Their Pets

The Provincial and Nunatsiavut Governments are encouraging pet owners in Labrador to vaccinate their animals. The recommendation comes after one animal on a dogsled team competing in a recent heritage race in Makkovik was confirmed as having rabies, and another dog in Nain was attacked by a fox confirmed as having rabies.

Public Advisory: Public Advised of Possible Fraudulent Activity

Service NL is cautioning the public about fraudulent activity by companies that trade in binary options. The department has received consumer complaints from consumers that they have been contacted at their residences by individuals representing Magellan Trading Group International (MTGI) and Stratus Financial Group International (SFGI). Individuals with both companies, which have been traced to San Jose, Costa Rica, are providing false and misleading information, placing potential investors at risk.
