The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, is in Copenhagen, Denmark, this week meeting with industry leaders and participating in the 2015 Arctic Technology Conference (ATC). A gathering of global business and academic leaders, ATC provides the opportunity for the industry’s best to come together to share ideas, current research and cutting edge technology. Newfoundland and Labrador will host the conference in 2016.

$19 Million Invested in Municipal Infrastructure in Mount Pearl

Over $19 million in cost-shared funding for multi-year capital works projects was announced today for the City of Mount Pearl. This funding will support a number of municipal infrastructure projects in the city including street improvements, walking trail upgrades and facility renovations to enhance and modernize services and recreation options for the benefit and well-being of families and businesses in the community.
Applications Now Being Accepted for Student Employment Programs
Advanced Education and Skills
The Department of Advanced Education and Skills is now accepting applications for this year’s summer student employment programs. Private employers and not-for-profit groups throughout the province are able to avail of a wage subsidy under these programs to help them hire post-secondary and high school students for the summer months.

On October 14, 2013, officers with the Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division of the Department of Justice and Public Safety received a complaint from a concerned motorist that someone had improperly discharged a firearm on the Trans-Canada Highway near Bishop’s Falls. As a result of the investigation, the individual was arrested and charged with several offences.
