Romaine, Green Leaf, Red Leaf and Boston Bibb lettuce; root crops, berries, fresh herbs and preserves are a sampling of the locally-produced, fresh items offered at Mark's Market, a Wooddale-based business that is celebrating its official opening today. The Federal and Provincial Governments have invested $172,500 to help expand the local farmers market in order to boost the economy and strengthen the Newfoundland and Labrador agriculture industry.

Premier Announces 2016 Independent Oil and Gas Resource Assessment

Today, the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, announced that Newfoundland and Labrador's 2016 independent resource assessment covering the area of the West Orphan Basin has identified 25.5 billion barrels of oil and 20.6 trillion cubic feet of gas potential.
Occupational Health and Safety Charges Laid in Roofing Incident

A company has been charged with violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations arising from a roofing incident that occurred in Bay Roberts on October 6, 2014. The incident involved two employees who suffered fatal injuries, and three others who suffered various injuries resulting from an electrical contact. The investigation was conducted by the Occupational Health and Safety Branch of Service NL.
Minister Highlights Public Geoscience in Mining and Diverse Sources of Energy

The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, attended the Energy and Mines Ministers' Conference in Winnipeg, August 22 to 23, to discuss strengthening of public confidence in natural resource sectors. During the event Minister Coady spoke on energy and mines issues important to Newfoundland and Labrador including the development of diverse sources of energy generation, investment in public geoscience in mining and energy transmission.

Occupational Health and Safety Charges Laid Against Industrial Firm

Service NL announced today that McCurdy Ready Mix Limited has been charged with violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations in relation to an incident that occurred in July of 2014. The charges are the result of an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Branch.
