The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will present the new version of the provincial veterans motorcycle licence plate today (Thursday, August 4) at 10:30 a.m. The presentation will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion War Memorial in Conception Bay South, located on the Conception Bay South Highway (near the Town Hall). Premier Ball will be joined by Royal Canadian Legion Provincial Command President Frank Sullivan.

The Department of Environment and Conservation is investigating recent incidents where soap has been added to a natural waterway to form suds. One instance allegedly occurred within La Manche Provincial Park and another recently in Manuels River.
Workshops Help Young People Become Skilled Hunters

The Department of Environment and Conservation, is partnering with local rod and gun clubs and the Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association to offer hunter skills workshops to young people between the ages of 12 and 17 in Deer Lake and Happy Valley-Goose Bay. These sessions are designed to educate participants about safe and responsible hunting practices, as well as wildlife conservation, shooting safety, archery and bow-hunting techniques, and outdoor survival skills.
Minister Joyce Announces New Firefighting Vehicles for Three Communities

The Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister Responsible for Fire and Emergency Services-Newfoundland and Labrador, has announced that three new firefighting vehicles have been approved for the communities of Holyrood, Isle aux Morts and Jackson’s Arm. The announcement was made today (Tuesday, August 2) at the Holyrood Municipal Building.
Minister Parsons Announces Details of External Review into the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner

The Provincial Government today released the terms of reference for an external review into the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) and announced that the review would be conducted by Dr. Matthew Bowes. Minister Andrew Parsons committed to the review in light of an incident whereby a murder charge related to a 2013 death was withdrawn in December 2015 due to forensic evidence being misplaced. He is available to discuss the review with the media today at 1:00 p.m. at the Holyrood Municipal Office, 34 Salmonier Line, Holyrood.
Public Advisory: Prescribed Burn to be Conducted near River Brook

Weather permitting, the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency will conduct a 90-hectare prescribed burn tomorrow (Wednesday, August 3) near River Brook. The site is located approximately 10 kilometres south of Crabs River in Forest Management District 14.

Public Advisory: Ruth Avenue Interchange Roundabout Set to Open

A roundabout being constructed at the Ruth Avenue interchange in Mount Pearl by Cougar Engineering and Construction, on behalf of the project developer DewCor, is nearing completion. The roundabout is intended to ease traffic flow in and out of the new Galway development. Final inspection will take place tomorrow (Tuesday, August 2) and the roundabout will be open to traffic on Wednesday, August 3.
