Minister Kirby Announces Key Milestone for Affordable Child Care

As of June 1, 2017, families throughout Newfoundland and Labrador will benefit from an increased income threshold under the provincial Child Care Subsidy Program. The threshold is being adjusted for the first time since 2007, increasing from $27,500 to $32,000. This will mean that a greater number of families will be eligible for a full Child Care Subsidy, other families will see a reduction in their parental contribution and some families that were previously ineligible will now receive a partial subsidy.

Today, the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, announced that $100,000 has been provided to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada - Newfoundland and Labrador to contribute to placing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in public centres throughout the province. Minister Joyce was joined by Betty Parsley, MHA for Harbour Main, and Mary Ann Butt, CEO, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador, to make the announcement at the Robert French Memorial Stadium, Conception Bay South.
