To help diversify the economy and support economic development on the Burin Peninsula, the Provincial Government announced today it has entered into an Environmental Indemnification Agreement with Marbase Marystown Inc. This agreement facilitates the completion of Marbase’s purchase of the Marystown Shipyard.

Seniors’ Advocate Dr. Suzanne Brake today released “Long May Your Big Jib Draw: Setting Sail”. This report is a “what we’ve heard” document reflecting the major systemic issues that seniors have brought forward since the creation of the Office in November 2017. It is a result of many telephone calls, emails, consultations and public engagement sessions with seniors and their families and supporters throughout the province.

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, today announced the release of modernized aquaculture policies and procedures, including updated policies that set the stage for effectively managing our growing industry to become a world leader in environmentally sustainable aquaculture development. Minister Byrne announced the release during the Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association’s 2019 Cold Harvest conference, taking place this week in St. John’s.

Applications Open for Mathematics Bursary Program
Education and Early Childhood Development
Applications are now being accepted for the K-6 Mathematics Bursary Program. Through the Education Action Plan, bursaries are offered to K-6 teachers to build capacity and to enhance math pedagogy in primary and elementary schools.
