The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced the reappointment of Ms. Raelene Lee and the appointment of Mr. Larry Pittman (employer representatives, alternate members) to the Labour Relations Board. Mr. Pittman’s appointment is effective on November 3, 2019. Both appointments are for a two-year term.

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will bring greetings at the opening of the 2019 North Atlantic Forum and Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation Annual Conference tomorrow (Tuesday, October 1). The conference opening takes place at Signal Hill Campus, Memorial University, 100 Signal Hill Road, St. John’s, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, will be attending Memorial University Faculty of Medicine’s twentieth anniversary celebration for the Centre for Collaborative Health Professional Education on Monday, September 30 at 2:00 p.m.

Children, Seniors and Social Development

Derek Bennett, Parliamentary Secretary for Children, Seniors and Social Development, will bring greetings at the launch of Kids Eat Smart Week on Monday, September 30. The launch takes place at East Point Elementary School, 14 Middleton Street, St. John’s, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The Honourable Derrick Bragg, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, will bring remarks at the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Fire Services convention on Sunday, September 29. The event will take place on the arena floor at the Steele Community Centre, 155 Airport Boulevard, Gander at 6:30 p.m.

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will participate in a wreath laying ceremony at the 17th Annual Newfoundland and Labrador Police and Peace Officers Memorial on Sunday, September 29.

To support the further implementation of a recruitment and retention strategy for the aquaculture industry, the Provincial Government, is investing $550,000 for the Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association (NAIA) to develop the project Driving Awareness and Interest: An Educational Introduction to the Newfoundland and Labrador Aquaculture Industry. The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, announced funding during the NAIA Cold Harvest gala reception and dinner last night.

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, participated in an event today recognizing exceptional public service employees who were presented with the Public Service Award of Excellence. Premier Ball was joined by Elizabeth Day, Clerk of the Executive Council.

The Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, today announced that S&P and DBRS have once again confirmed the provincial government’s credit ratings.
