Municipal Affairs and Environment

Tonight will be Guy Fawkes Night (November 5), and the Provincial Government is reminding residents to ensure that bonfires are conducted in a safe and legal manner.

Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner

The Information and Privacy Commissioner, Michael Harvey, has released his Report P-2019-002 under authority of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 2015. A summary of the Report is included below.

Finance

The Department of Finance is advising all suppliers of goods and services to the Provincial Government of an upcoming change to the mailing address for some accounts payable invoices.

House of Assembly

The House of Assembly advises that a meeting of the Management Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, at 5:15 p.m. in the House of Assembly Committee Room.

Fisheries and Land Resources

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources is advising the public that while it is well intentioned, to not engage in the clean-up of wildlife disposal sites that are the subject of an investigation into illegal dumping.

House of Assembly

The House of Assembly Government Services Committee tabled its final report today related to its review of the draft Bill, Real Estate Trading Act, 2019. The draft Bill was referred to the Committee under Standing Order 79. Its findings and recommendations were required to be reported to the House of Assembly in the Fall 2019 sitting.

Education and Early Childhood Development

Mr. Speaker, this morning I joined Skills Canada Newfoundland and Labrador for the launch of National Skilled Trades and Technology Week. This annual event celebrates the success of skilled workers while promoting careers in skilled trades and technology as first-choice options for our youth.

The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Transportation and Works, will speak at a Business-to-Business Networking Event regarding the construction of the new adult mental health and addictions hospital Monday, November 4.

Due to the weather event on the west coast, a washout has occurred in the Robaires River area of the T’Railway Provincial Park.

Advanced Education, Skills and Labour

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, will bring greetings at the opening of the Sedler’s Port Saunders supported employment office tomorrow (Saturday, November 2). The event takes place at 12:00 p.m. at the Port Saunders Town Centre, 138 Main Street.

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, today announced an extension to the Western Sno-Riders Trail Network that will enable snowmobile operators to access trails in the western region without having to bypass the City of Corner Brook.
