The Provincial Government has offered $100,000 in project-based funding to Literacy NL which will help enable the organization to move forward with its Digital Skills for the Older Workers and Potential Older Workers project.

The Forestry and Agrifoods Agency advises that Forest Access Roads in the Gambo, Glovertown, and Gander Bay areas will be closed to vehicle traffic effective Wednesday, April 8, 2015 until further notice. The roads will remain open to snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles.

The Harbour Authority of Arnold’s Cove will expand its docking facilities as the busy port looks ahead to meeting increased commercial, industrial, and recreational demand. The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is supporting the authority with $66,000 for the project.

Through an Atlantic Canadian initiative, educational personnel throughout Newfoundland and Labrador will have access to a new online training program for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The program will allow the education system to be more responsive to emerging research and the needs of students with autism.

The campaign supports those affected by cancer and makes significant contributions to researchers seeking a cure.

The Provincial Government is recognizing April as Information Management Month in Newfoundland and Labrador and is committed to the effective management of information. This includes the need for good information management practices as highlighted in the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA) Review Committee’s report.

The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, will be available to media today (Wednesday, April 1) to discuss pension overpayments. The availability will take place at 2:00 p.m. outside Conference Room A, Ground Floor, West Block, Confederation Building.

An internal audit of Government of Newfoundland and Labrador public pension payments identified errors and resulting overpayments to 427 individuals. The Human Resource Secretariat is now contacting the impacted individuals and efforts will be made to recover the $934,979 paid out in error.

A Provincial Government investment of $32,750 has been provided to the Marystown Hotel and Convention Centre to assist the business implement a new marketing campaign and upgrade its website. The new marketing materials will enhance travellers' ability to find the hotel through search engines, while also improving online booking.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) is now accepting applications for tryouts for the Midget Canada Games Boys and Girls and the Under-14 Boys and Girls programs.

The Department of Finance wishes to advise suppliers of goods and services to departments in the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador of the steps to expedite payment for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015.
