The 2015 Newfoundland and Labrador Electoral Districts Boundaries Commission has released its proposal for the division of the Province into 40 one-member districts. A schedule of public sittings has been set to provide the public with opportunities to comment on the proposed electoral boundaries. Public sittings will begin on April 22 and will continue throughout the province until May 1.

Provincial Government Supports 2015 Seal Harvest

The sealing industry remains an important contributor to the provincial economy providing economic benefits to people and communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The Provincial Government announced today that it is providing $2 million to support the purchase of seals from the 2015 harvest. This support comes in the form of loans to Carino Processing Ltd. and PhocaLux International Inc. of up to $1 million each.
Work Continues to Ease Financial Burden on Pensioners After Overpayments

The Department of Finance is continuing to work with pensioners impacted after an internal audit of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador public pension payments identified errors that resulted in overpayments to 427 individuals. In cases where repayment to the public pension plans is required and financial hardship is determined, to the greatest extent possible, staff will work with individuals to address it.

Provincial Drama Festival Celebrates 65 Years of Theatre Arts

With seven community theatre groups from around the province gathering to perform a variety of plays, the festival is the longest running full-length drama festival in the country.
