Environment and Conservation: Multi-Materials Stewardship Board
Memorial University’s Harris Centre - MMSB Waste Management Applied Research Fund is receiving a $345,000 investment, over three years, to support research into Newfoundland and Labrador’s waste management needs and opportunities. The Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) is renewing its initial funding commitment of $300,000 through the Waste Management Trust Fund and Product Care Association is contributing $45,000 on behalf of the paint industry in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Provincial Government Urges Federal Minister to Reverse Allocation Decision on Atlantic Halibut

The Provincial Government is expressing outrage with the decision announced yesterday by the Honourable Gail Shea, federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, on the allocation of increased quota for Atlantic halibut in the Gulf of St. Lawrence which effectively takes away halibut from Newfoundland and Labrador harvesters and gives it to harvesters in the Maritime Provinces.
Date Set for Outer Ring Road Clean-Up
Transportation and Works
Department of Transportation and Works crews will begin cleaning litter and removing large discarded items from the Outer Ring Road on Sunday, June 14, approximately two weeks earlier than last year. A second closure and clean-up of the highway will be scheduled for July.

Each year, these individuals come together to exchange ideas on how to best serve the children, youth and families of this province who require their services.
