Work to Begin on Route 230-21 at English Harbour

Work will begin this summer in English Harbour to construct a culvert which will result in the reopening of R230-21 on the Bonavista Peninsula. The tender for the work, valued at $340,000, has been awarded to Sweetland's Aggregate Ltd in Bonavista.
Premier’s Advisory Council on Crime and Community Safety - Public Advisory: Residents Asked to Provide Feedback to Advisory Council

On January 23, 2015, the Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, announced appointments to the Premier’s Advisory Council on Crime and Community Safety. The council is mandated to make recommendations to Premier Davis and the Minister of Justice and Public Safety that would make Newfoundland and Labrador safer for all residents. These recommendations will be made after information is gathered through consultation with stakeholders including the general public and recognized experts, as well as through the study of relevant literature and the assessment of innovative practices already used in other areas of Canada.
Provincial Government Awards Tender for Bell Island Wharf Upgrades

A tender has been awarded to Coady Construction & Excavating Limited for improvements to the wharf at Bell Island. Just over $3 million is being allocated to prepare the wharf for the arrival of the new 80-metre ice class ferry, the MV Legionnaire in February 2016.

A number of Newfoundland and Labrador athletes and coaches will represent Team Canada and be among 7,600 competitors from the Americas and the Caribbean at the 2015 Pan Am Games (July 10-26) and Parapan Am Games (August 7-15) in Toronto. This province’s athletes and coaches will compete in softball, shooting, rugby, basketball, swimming, football/soccer, and wheelchair basketball.
Creating Enduring Legacies Through Honour 100 Grant Projects

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has announced the successful projects under the Honour 100 Grant Program, enabling communities and organizations to remember and honour the province’s war heroes and create lasting legacies. The program was launched in May 2014 as part of efforts to highlight the province’s First World War story through the Honour 100 initiative. The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, was in France last week to participate in First World War commemorative ceremonies.

Major Festivals Receive Approximately $500,000 from Provincial Government
