In support of innovation and new learning experiences for youth, up to $400,000 in funding will be provided to 37 schools and organizations throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The Youth Innovation initiative helps create awareness of the value of innovation in the province’s high-growth resource and non-resource based industries. The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Business, Tourism, Cultural and Rural Development, made the announcement this morning at St. Bernard’s Elementary in Witless Bay. He was joined by the Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs and MHA for Ferryland.
Provincial Government Launches Population Growth Strategy

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador today released Live Here, Work Here, Belong Here, A Population Growth Strategy for Newfoundland and Labrador, 2015-2025. The strategy is a government-wide approach for supporting individuals and families who choose Newfoundland and Labrador as their home. Through four five-year action plans focused on workforce, families, communities and immigration, the strategy will highlight everything that Newfoundland and Labrador has to offer.
Visitor Information Centres Receive $143,500 in Funding

The Provincial Government has provided 22 regional visitor information centres throughout Newfoundland and Labrador with a total of $143,500 in operational support through the Visitor Information Centre Program.

Premier Presents the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Bronze Standard

Recognizing a commitment to community and personal development, the Honourable Paul Davis, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, presented 37 young people with the Bronze Standard of Achievement yesterday (Tuesday, June 23) to mark their successful participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Program. Contest Rewards HotShots at Energy Efficiency and Conservation

Three groups of students province-wide will receive iPads for themselves and their schools by proving they’re HotShots at energy efficiency and conservation. The Honourable Dan Crummell, in his capacity as Minister Responsible for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, today announced that students from Menihek High School in Labrador City, St. Paul’s Junior High in St. John’s, and Xavier Junior High School in Deer Lake are winners of the HotShots contest for students.
