Today we learned of the sudden loss of RCMP Inspector Anthony Perry in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. I offer my sincerest condolences to his family and colleagues and join with all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians in extending our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to them during this very difficult time. Inspector Perry was a valued member of the RCMP detachment in Labrador and during his short time he contributed immensely to the community. He will be greatly missed.

Highway Traffic Act Charges Laid Against Busing Company and Mechanic

A busing company, an Official Inspection Station and a mechanic have been charged with a total of 100 violations of the Official Inspection Station Regulations under the Highway Traffic Act after an investigation was conducted by the Highway Enforcement Branch of Service NL.
Students to Participate in the Atlantic Canada Career Week

Students in all schools and post-secondary education institutions in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island will be invited to participate in activities promoting careers during the week of October 31 to November 4 as part of the Atlantic Canada Career Week to be launched by the Council of Atlantic Ministers of Education and Training (CAMET).
New Training Helps Improve Mental Health Outcomes for Inmates

Earlier this fall, 12 inmates at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary (HMP) in St. John’s received training in Mental Health First Aid, a two-day program offered in conjunction with the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Today, the Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General, presented the individuals with their certificates of completion at a ceremony at HMP.
