Provincial Government Announces $140,000 for Community Addictions and Mental Health Grants

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has announced the recipients of 2016-17 Community Addictions Prevention and Mental Health Promotion Grants. Approximately $140,000 will be provided to community organizations throughout the province. The program is designed to support the capacity of groups and communities to play an active role in preventing addictions and promoting positive mental health.

The Department of Municipal Affairs, Fire and Emergency Services (FES) is monitoring Environment and Climate Change Canada forecast information on an approaching weather system. A deep low pressure system will bring a mix of precipitation, strong winds and the potential for storm surges to the province later tonight and into Friday. FES is contacting coastal communities about the potential for storm surge activity in their region.

The statutory review committee appointed to review the Personal Health Information Act is seeking public input. The act establishes rules that custodians of personal health information must follow when collecting, using and disclosing individuals’ confidential personal health information. Public Advisory: Confederation Building Visitor Entrances Temporarily Changed to Facilitate Repairs

The public is advised that the Confederation Building, East Block, will be re-opened tomorrow (Tuesday, February 7). However, the basement visitor entrance will remain closed due to repairs following a water pipe break. This entrance is expected to re-open Wednesday, February 8.
