Amendments Made to Financial Administration Act

Amendments to the Financial Administration Act for Public Accounts received second reading in the House of Assembly yesterday. These amendments include the tabling of public accounts on or before October 31 of the following fiscal year. During the years where the fixed date provincial general election occurs, the Public Accounts will be issued no less than 15 days before the date of the election.

Mandatory Safe Prescribing Course Launched for Physicians

A further step in the province’s Opioid Action Plan has been achieved with the successful development of a new mandatory safe prescribing course for physicians. Developed in partnership with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador and Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine, the course offers focused instruction on safe and appropriate prescribing practices for opioids, stimulants and benzodiazepines.
