Enforcement officers in Newfoundland and Labrador now have the authority to issue tickets for federal regulatory offences under the Contraventions Act. The new regime removes the requirement for offenders to appear in court in cases which are not contested, leading to improved efficiencies and cost savings in Newfoundland and Labrador’s court system.

New Aquaculture Project to Create Hundreds of Jobs on the Burin Peninsula

Today in Marystown, representatives from Grieg NL officially launched the company’s $250 million aquaculture project in Placentia Bay with support from both the provincial and federal governments. The launch follows the project’s release from a comprehensive environmental assessment process, which included more than 15 conditions to ensure the project proceeds in an environmentally-sustainable manner.
