Powertel Utilities Contractors Limited and a supervisor have been charged with violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations in relation to an incident that occurred in January 2017. The charges are the result of an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Division of Service NL.

The Provincial Government is in the process of notifying not-for-profit organizations and local governments who applied to sponsor projects that they have been approved for funding under the Community Enhancement Employment Program. The early-roll out of this program will provide timely opportunities to residents to develop new skills and improve communities.

Today the Minister’s Steering Committee on Violence Against Women and Girls released a progress report on its work over the last year. The report highlights the collective effort to prevent and address violence against women and girls while identifying next steps for positive action. The Steering Committee is co-chaired by the Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, and Linda Ross, President of the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women.

The Municipal Assessment Agency today (October 1, 2018) mailed property assessment notices for 225 municipalities (excluding the City of St. John’s).
