The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, will bring greetings at the 2018 BMO Winterset Award ceremony tomorrow (Thursday, March 28). The event takes place in the Cochrane Room at Government House, St. John’s, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Today, the Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister Responsible for the Office of the Chief Information Officer, and the Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister of Service NL, launched the MyGovNL pilot project for Motor Registration Division (MRD). This is the first publicly available digital service under the Digital Way Forward five-year plan that was announced in April 2018.

The Department of Transportation and Works is working with 3M Canada to conduct a no-cost exploratory review of the Veterans Memorial Highway.

They will be joined by Neil King, MHA for Bonavista.

Derrick Bragg, Parliamentary Secretary for Municipal Affairs and Environment, will address the 18th annual Clean and Safe Drinking Water Workshop tomorrow (Wednesday, March 27) at the Quality Hotel and Suites in Gander at 9:00 a.m. Parliamentary Secretary Bragg will also announce recipients of the Operator of the Year awards.

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources reminds residents the deadline to submit big game licence draw applications is March 29, 2019, at 4:30 p.m. (NDT). Eligible hunters may return completed applications to the Department of Fisheries and Land Resources, Wildlife Division, or apply online at www.wildlife.gov.nl.ca.

Judy White, Q.C., has been appointed as Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission, effective immediately. The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety announced the appointment today.

Health and Community Services

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has reached a tentative collective agreement with the Registered Nurses Union Newfoundland and Labrador (RNUNL).This agreement is subject to ratification by the RNUNL’s 5,200 members from across the province.

Education and Early Childhood Development

In keeping with a recommendation of the Premier’s Task Force on Improving Educational Outcomes and the Education Action Plan, the Provincial Government is undertaking consultations to inform the development of a guiding document and phased-in implementation plan for Junior Kindergarten.

Fisheries and Land Resources

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources will hold public consultation sessions to prepare a new five-year operating plan for Forest Management District 20 on the south coast of Labrador. The intent of the sessions is to obtain feedback on proposed forestry activity.

Health and Community Services

The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, today announced that construction will commence during summer 2019 on a $2.2 million re-design of the emergency department at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre.

Today, the Provincial Government released the results of its public consultations related to potential changes to the Real Estate Trading Act. The results are available online and outline feedback received from the real estate industry and the general public.

Children, Seniors and Social Development

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, will speak at the 2019 Labrador Winter Games’ Closing Ceremonies tomorrow (Saturday, March 23). The event takes place at 7:00 p.m. at E.J. Broomfield Memorial Arena, 2 Churchill Street, Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Conservation officers with the Department of Fisheries and Land Resources are working to capture and remove nuisance foxes reported in the communities of Little Bay and King’s Point. Residents of Green Bay and White Bay communities are urged to report all sightings within their communities by calling 709-673-3821.
