The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour and the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, are acknowledging today Bastille Day.

Executive Council

Anne Chafe has been appointed as the interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Rooms Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador effective immediately. Ms. Chafe replaces Dean Brinton who had served in the role since 2005.

Health and Community Services

The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, will join the Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Minister of Indigenous Services, for the announcement of an investment in health research tomorrow (Friday, July 12) at 1:30 p.m.

Children, Seniors and Social Development

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, and Newfoundland and Labrador representative on the National Steering Committee of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians will attend the organization’s Outreach Program and the 57th Canadian Regional Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Halifax, Nova Scotia from July 12-15.

The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, will join representatives of the St. John’s Pride Committee and other community representatives at a St. John’s Pride Week 2019 flag raising ceremony tomorrow (Friday, July 12).

The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources and the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Natural Resources Canada today announced the appointment of Roger Grimes as the Chair of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB). Mr. Grimes’s appointment is for a six-year term. The appointment was made through the merit-based appointment process established by the Independent Appointments Commission Act.

Fisheries and Land Resources

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, today announced winners of the provincial salmon fly competition commemorating International Year of the Salmon in 2019. The announcement was held at the Salmonid Interpretation Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor to help launch the 35th annual Exploits Valley Salmon Festival.

Atlantic premiers met this morning prior to the annual meeting of the Council of the Federation (COF) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to discuss shared priorities.

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, will announce the winners of the International Year of the Salmon Fly Competition tomorrow (Thursday, July 11). The event will take place at the Salmonid Interpretation Centre, 100 Taylor Road, Grand Falls-Windsor at 11:30 a.m. to help launch the 35th annual Exploits Valley Salmon Festival.
