The Government of Yukon is pleased to announce an investment of up to $12.9 million to support the Safe at Home Society’s project to help end and prevent homelessness in downtown Whitehorse.
The Hearth is a 67-unit permanent supportive housing project that will transform the former Coast High Country Inn into safe and affordable housing for a mixed demographic of individuals experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

Government of Yukon invests $5 million towards affordable housing in Whitehorse
The Government of Yukon is investing $5 million in the Winter Crossing housing project in Whistle Bend to help meet the growing demand for affordable housing options in Whitehorse.
This 105-unit project will be the single largest affordable housing development in the Yukon’s history. The investment helps ensure Yukon Housing Corporation meets its goal of partnering to build 250 new affordable homes by 2028 and will create significant opportunities for local labour and fabrication during the project.

The Government of Yukon has released a What We Heard report following engagement related to the review of the Public Interest Disclosure of Wrongdoing Act.
The Public Interest Disclosure of Wrongdoing Act provides a process for employees of public organizations to follow if they are in a situation where they believe a wrongdoing has been committed or is about to be committed, or if they believe they have been unfairly treated because of raising concerns about a wrongdoing.

Update on flooding at Ch'ëdähdëk Forty Mile Historic Site: Damage assessed and Request for Proposals issued for long-term conservation plan
This is a joint release with Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.
In May of 2023, an ice jam formed at the confluence of the Forty mile and Yukon rivers 88 km downriver from Dawson City, resulting in extensive ice and water damage to the co-managed Ch'ëdähdëk (Forty Mile) Historic Site, one of the eight component sites that make up the Tr’ondëk-Klondike UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Government of Yukon is addressing health care labour shortages by facilitating the recognition of credentials for internationally educated health professionals.
Today in Whitehorse, Premier Ranj Pillai, alongside the federal Minister of Small Business Rechie Valdez, on behalf of federal Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages of Canada Randy Boissonnault, alongside Yukon MP Dr. Brendan Hanley, announced the $3.6 million Foreign Credential Recognition Project for internationally educated health care workers.
