Text with 911 (T911) service is now available in Newfoundland and Labrador and provides improved access to emergency services. During an emergency, T911 assists 911 Call Takers in communicating quickly and clearly with persons who are Deaf, late deafened, hard of hearing and others who may benefit by using wireless text messaging.

Residents Reminded about Out-of-Province Medical Insurance Coverage

The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Care Plan (MCP) provides some coverage for individuals who temporarily leave the province for vacations or other purposes. However, residents are reminded that there are healthcare-related services that MCP does not cover, or only partially covers outside the province. These can include hospital-related charges, and treatments received in a clinic. Residents should be aware that they will be personally responsible for any costs not covered by MCP, such as road or air ambulance services.
