Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize June as Recreation Month. This year’s theme – Recreation Can – highlights the many ways being active and involved in recreational activities can enrich the lives of individuals, families and communities.

As committed in Budget 2019, the Provincial Government is eliminating the remaining 13 per cent Retail Sales Tax (RST) on automobile insurance.

Service NL

RJG Construction Limited of St. John’s has been charged with violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations in relation to an incident that occurred in October 2017. The charges are the result of an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Division of Service NL.

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will attend Youth Ventures Kickoff tomorrow (Friday, June 14). The event, which includes an entrepreneurial showcase, begins at 9:30 a.m. at Frontline Action, 10 Pearl Place, St. John’s.

The Honourable Andrew Parsons, QC, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General announced today, the appointment of a new Provincial Court Judge. Rolf Pritchard, QC is appointed to the Provincial Court in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Chief Matthews has been chosen by the National Fire Protection Association to receive its 2019 Rising Star award for her dedication to educating the public, saving lives, and protecting the community.

Mr. Speaker, I rise in this Honourable House to congratulate Stella’s Circle and Dr. Patricia Lingley-Pottie, President and CEO of the Strongest Families Institute, on receiving Champions of Mental Health Awards from the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health, this past May in Ottawa.
