Children, Seniors and Social Development

To recognize December 3 as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister Responsible for the Status of Persons with Disabilities, today joined representatives from the Coalition of Persons with Disabilities NL to sign a proclamation to commemorate the annual observance.

The Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, announced the appointment of David Billard, P.Eng., PMP, to the Muskrat Falls Project Oversight Committee. This committee is mandated to provide independent and transparent oversight on cost and schedule performance of the project.

The Honourable Brian Warr, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, is encouraging teachers and administrators to apply for grants for school organized trips to Québec, francophone communities in New Brunswick and to Saint Pierre et Miquelon. The application deadline is December 20, 2019.

Municipal Affairs and Environment

Today (Wednesday, November 27), Newfoundland and Labrador will issue a test message of the national emergency alerting system, Alert Ready, at 10:55 a.m. (NST) and 10:25 a.m. in Labrador (AST). Residents need not take any action when receiving the test message.
