The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources is congratulating Ocean Choice International (OCI) on entering into a marketing agreement with Qingdao Meichu Food Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Winning Group, for the promotion of yellowtail flounder and grey sole into the Chinese retail and online markets. The goal is also to add other seafood species as part of the agreement in the future such as red fish, snow crab, cold water shrimp and sea cucumber.

The T’Railway Provincial Park, specifically the Trans-Canada Highway underpass located west of the Bay d’Espoir Hwy (Route 360), is now open to all user groups. It was closed in late July due to the removal and replacement of the Bridge by the Department of Transportation and Works.

New Extended Producer Responsibility Program for Used Oil and Glycol Supports Environmental Protection

The Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) and the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment are working together to initiate an industry-managed used oil and glycol recycling program that will protect the environment and strengthen recycling and waste services for residents and communities. Through an extended responsibility producer program, industry producers of used oil and glycol will be responsible for their products from the point of production through to post-consumer recycling.
