Mr. Speaker, I rise in this Honourable House to recognize November 18 to 25 as Restorative Justice Week. Tomorrow, with our community stakeholders, we will proclaim this week, showing our continued support for this growing movement. I am also pleased to be bringing greetings tomorrow night at a panel discussion at 7:00 at the Lantern in St. John’s. Organized by Relationships First: Restorative Justice in Education Consortium the panel will explore the role of restorative justice in supporting healthy communities.

Health and Community Services

The Provincial Government is introducing new public health legislation to support the population health and well-being of people living in communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister of Service NL, will speak at a National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims event tomorrow (Wednesday, November 21). The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the East Block lobby of Confederation Building.

Fisheries and Land Resources

The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, will attend several events in Corner Brook tomorrow (Wednesday, November 21).

Executive Council

Today, the Provincial Government introduced amendments to the Public Sector Compensation Transparency Act that will ensure House of Assembly Service staff, political support staff, statutory officers and employees of statutory offices with total compensation of over $100,000 per year will now be included in the annual compensation disclosure listing.

Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation

Mark Browne, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will speak at the Community Business Development Corporation’s Cabot branch Annual General Meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, November 20). The event takes place at the Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre, 7 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Bay South, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

The Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will attend the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA) Annual Christmas Suite tomorrow (Tuesday, November 20). The event begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Arts and Culture Centre, St. John’s.

The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, will provide details on an Act Respecting the Protection and Promotion of Public Health tomorrow (Tuesday, November 20).

In its continued efforts to improve efficiency and accountability among government entities, the Provincial Government is today introducing legislation to improve its access to workforce and compensation-related information at agencies, boards and commissions (ABCs).

Education and Early Childhood Development

The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, announced today more than $200,000 in scholarships for 201 recent high school graduates as part of the Provincial Scholarship Program. The program recognizes high school graduates throughout Newfoundland and Labrador for their hard work, dedication and academic achievements.

Fisheries and Land Resources

Mr. Speaker it is my pleasure to inform this House of yet another step forward for our Mistaken Point World Heritage Site as it continues its upward arc of national and international prominence. Days ago, a significant partnership was featured between our unique, provincially-managed World Heritage Site and the Royal Ontario Museum.
