Public Advisory: T’Railway Provincial Park closed in Wreckhouse Area

Due to a significant washout and ongoing erosion concerns immediately west of the culvert under the Trans-Canada Highway at the Wreckhouse parking lot, this portion of the T’Railway Provincial Park has been closed until further notice. Users are asked to avoid the area.

November 20 is National Child Day. It is a special day that recognizes our country’s commitment to upholding the rights of all children and youth. This year’s National Child Day marks the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. While Canada has made progress on children’s rights, there is much work to be done in this province and throughout the country to advance and protect children’s rights.

Public Advisory: Residents of Rocky Harbour Encouraged to Properly Store Garbage to Address Roaming Black Bears
Fisheries and Land Resources
Residents of Rocky Harbour and area are asked to take appropriate action to properly store household garbage to address the problem of black bears roaming the area. To avoid attracting bears in communities and backyards do not store garbage in outside containers until collection day and keep pets inside or under close supervision. Two bear traps are currently set in the area and conservation officers continue to monitor on a regular basis. The public are reminded to avoid areas where traps have been set.
