Premier's Office -- More beds, more operating rooms and two new and larger emergency departments are among the elements of More, Faster: The Action for Health Build, a comprehensive plan for improving healthcare services for Nova Scotians.

Premier's Office -- The Province is providing more help to Nova Scotians struggling with the rising cost of living.

Natural Resources and Renewables -- Low-income Nova Scotians will get free heat pumps and other home upgrades thanks to a $140-million provincial investment in energy efficiency programs over four years.

Municipal Affairs and Housing -- The Province is investing an additional $19.5 million to preserve, modernize and improve existing affordable housing, grow the community housing sector and add modular housing.

Natural Resources and Renewables -- Geothermal energy already heats some buildings in Springhill, and a study funded by the Province will help advance its full potential in the area.

Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage -- The Province is helping community organizations purchase generators and supporting much-needed repairs at rural arenas.

Natural Resources and Renewables / Environment and Climate Change -- NOTE: A list of newly designated nature reserves and expanded wilderness areas follows this release. The Province is investing an additional $20 million to help protect more of Nova Scotia’s land and water and designating another 9,300 hectares of Crown land for the benefit of Nova Scotians and the environment.

Health and Wellness -- More Nova Scotians will get their eye surgeries sooner thanks to an expanded partnership between Nova Scotia Health and Halifax Vision Surgical Centre.

Agriculture -- A new pilot project will put more local fruit, vegetables, meat and fish on the menu at Northwood’s Halifax Campus, Atlantic Canada’s largest long-term care facility.

Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission -- Four individual Nova Scotians and three groups received Nova Scotia Human Rights Awards in honour of their work creating a more equitable, inclusive and respectful province at an event in Halifax today, December 9.

Public Works -- The Province is investing an additional $4 million in the Rural Impact Mitigation program and equipment to improve roads in Nova Scotia.

Premier's Office -- Premier Tim Houston emphasized the importance of making it easier for healthcare workers to move from one province to another during a meeting of Canadian trade ministers in Toronto today, December 8.
