Mr. Speaker, today I rise in this Honourable House to commemorate the sacrifices made by our naval, air and merchant veterans during the Battle of the Atlantic.
Statement by the Honourable Siobhan Coady, Minister of Natural Resources, on the report on the draft tube formwork incident at the Muskrat Falls site:
Natural Resources
A primary concern for our government is the safety of workers and we were relieved there were no serious injuries as a result of the industrial incident at the Muskrat Falls generation site last May. An investigation report into the incident has now been released to the public. Nalcor retained aDB, a structural engineering consultant, to work with Astaldi and their engineering consultants to investigate the draft tube incident.
Experiences, Culture, and People Energize Provincial Tourism Product Development Plan

Today, the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, released the 2017-20 Provincial Tourism Product Development Plan, which is a road map for maximizing tourism growth in Newfoundland and Labrador. Provincial Government Participates in Funding Announcement for New Water Treatment Plant in Pouch Cove

Today, Graham Letto, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, announced more than $3.8 million in joint federal-provincial funding for a new water treatment plant in Pouch Cove. Mr. Letto was joined by Nick Whalen, Member of Parliament for St. John’s East, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Joedy Wall, Mayor of the Town of Pouch Cove for the announcement. The Provincial Government is providing $2,426,988 to the project, while the Federal Government is contributing up to $1,427,413.
