Provincial Government Invests $744,000 to Support Organizations That Help Youth Succeed

Thirty-nine organizations supporting engagement activities and learning opportunities for young people across Newfoundland and Labrador will receive approximately $744,000 in funding from the Provincial Government. The Honourable Steve Kent, Minister Responsible for the Office of Public Engagement, announced the recipients of Grants to Youth Organizations today.

Residents in the District of Fortune Bay - Cape La Hune will see the completion of a water project and road and sewer upgrades through a $1.2 million cost-shared investment between the province and local communities. A delegation from Newfoundland and Labrador is in Europe this week to honour the sacrifices of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians during the First World War. As part of the province’s Honour 100 initiative to commemorate those who answered the call to war 100 years ago, the Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, along with veterans, members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Royal Newfoundland Regiment, Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and youth delegates from all over Newfoundland and Labrador are visiting a number of memorial sites throughout the week.
