Premier's Office -- Premier Stephen McNeil announced a pending change in his office staff, today, April 19.

Justice / Service Nova Scotia -- Nova Scotia has passed its recreational cannabis legislation, the Cannabis Control Act. Two parts of the legislation are now in effect.

Education and Early Childhood Development -- Child care centres across the province are converting 570 spaces to support families with infants, toddlers and after school care, thanks to federal-provincial funding.

Fisheries and Aquaculture -- NOTE: A list of companies exhibiting in the Nova Scotia pavilion and observing at the show follows this release. Nova Scotia’s reputation as Canada’s leading seafood exporter will be front and centre at Seafood Expo Global in Brussels, Belgium, April 24-26.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. -- Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI) has announced newly approved productions through the Nova Scotia Film and Television Production Incentive Fund today, April 17.

Tourism Nova Scotia -- Tourism Nova Scotia will expand its marketing presence in China this year with help from a marketing agency based in Beijing.

Communities, Culture and Heritage -- Government is supporting the Mi’kmaq Sport Council of Nova Scotia in its bid to bring the 2020 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) to Halifax. The site visit took place this week and if successful, will be the largest multi-sport event to ever be held in Nova Scotia.

Service Nova Scotia -- More illegal tobacco has been taken off the streets of Nova Scotia following a short-term investigation by Service Nova Scotia's Compliance and Special Investigations Unit.

Status of Women -- Registration is open for a three-day program to help women who want to get more involved in public and political leadership roles.

Energy -- The Department of Energy has issued two marine renewable energy permits to Big Moon Power for a tidal electricity project in the Bay of Fundy.

Internal Services -- Government is working with Halifax Regional Police to investigate a breach of information on the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) website.

Communities, Culture and Heritage -- Time is running out for people to visit BODY WORLDS RX, the newest exhibition on view at the Museum of Natural History in Halifax.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. / Business -- A.F. Theriault et fils ltée, chantier naval familial le plus ancien et le plus important de la Nouvelle-Écosse, investira 6,65 millions de dollars dans ses installations du comté de Digby. Le projet de la compagnie est le premier projet approuvé dans le cadre d’un nouveau Programme d’aide à l’innovation.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. / Business -- A.F. Theriault and Son Ltd., Nova Scotia’s oldest and largest family owned shipyard, is embarking on a $6.65 million investment in its operation in Digby County. The company is the first approved under a new Innovation Rebate Program.
