Clients of the Newfoundland and Labrador Prescription Drug Program (NLPDP) who have been diagnosed with a chronic illness will benefit from two new services that will be provided by pharmacists in the province. The new initiatives will provide one-on-one medication management services for clients 65 and older with multiple chronic diseases, and for clients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease who are starting a new medication for that illness.
Theatre Festivals Receive $280,000 in Operational Support

The theatre festival season is well underway again this year with support of $280,000 through the Provincial Government’s Cultural Economic Development Program. The Honourable Sandy Collins, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, made the announcement at the opening of the Stephenville Theatre Festival this past weekend.

Multi-million Dollar Investment Will Improve Recreational Infrastructure on the Burin Peninsula

With funding of more than $12 million from the Provincial and Federal Governments a 3,035 square metre multi-purpose recreational facility is being built in Marystown on the Burin Peninsula. The town is also contributing $2.4 million to the project. The announcement was made today by the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs, and the Honourable Rob Moore, Regional Minister for Newfoundland and Labrador and Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency).
Kimberly Jarvis Awarded Provincial Government’s 2014 Students on Ice Scholarship

Kimberly Jarvis, an 18-year-old student from Holy Name of Mary Academy in Lawn, was recently awarded a $12,000 Students on Ice Scholarship through the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture. The scholarship will enable Ms. Jarvis to learn about the importance of protecting marine environments while exploring the Arctic on a world-class research vessel staffed with many educators.
