Community Services -- Nova Scotians with disabilities will have enhanced programing and more community living opportunities through L'Arche Homefires.

Fisheries and Aquaculture -- Fish harvesters in Region Two, the eastern half of Cape Breton from the Inverness-Victoria County line to the Canso Causeway, have voted in favour of being represented by an accredited organization under the Fish Harvesters Organizations Support Act.

Energy -- Nova Scotians have more opportunities to help define the long-term future of the province's electricity system at a public meeting in Halifax and a live webcast in French and English, today, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.

Fisheries and Aquaculture -- A memorandum of understanding between the Nova Scotia Fisheries and Aquaculture Loan Board and the Nova Scotia Co-operative Council will enhance access to financial services and business mentoring for fish harvesters and sea farmers.

Finance and Treasury Board -- Nova Scotians will soon have a new option to save for their retirement to help ensure financial security in their later years.

Labour and Advanced Education -- NOTE: Information on several of this year's recipients follows this release. Graduate students at universities across the province have been awarded scholarships, helping them stay in Nova Scotia to do research that could lead to jobs, new products and more opportunities.

Finance and Treasury Board -- Nova Scotia is making changes to its securities rules to encourage more women to be represented in corporate and other boards of directors, and in senior management.

Communities, Culture and Heritage -- Government is partnering with Saint Mary's University to study Nova Scotia's marine heritage resources.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. -- CNS Accounting Solutions Ltd. is opening its first Canadian office in Halifax.

Municipal Affairs -- NOTE TO EDITORS: Municipal Affairs Minister Mark Furey and Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities president Dave Corkum, will be available to media in the lobby of the House of Assembly, 1726 Hollis St., Halifax, today, Oct. 15, following question period. Municipalities and villages have an opportunity to review and comment on draft recommendations in the provincial-municipal fiscal review report.

Economic and Rural Development and Tourism -- The Nova Star made its final crossing from Portland, Maine to Yarmouth this morning, finishing a first sailing season that had about 59,000 passengers travel on the service.

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal -- The Province of Nova Scotia and the Government of Canada have agreed to share the cost of upgrading 130 kilometres of the 100-series highway system in Nova Scotia over the next four years.

Internal Services -- Government's next surplus auction is Saturday, Oct. 18, in Dartmouth.

Premier's Office -- Premier Stephen McNeil welcomed a contract agreement today, Oct. 10, between nurses who are members of Nova Scotia Government Employees Union (NSGEU) Local 97 and their employer, Capital District Health Authority.
