As part of Small Business Week in the province, the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, today toured Island Propane Ltd. in Mount Pearl, a successful small business operating in the manufacturing/processing sector and providing employment for five people.

A technical briefing for media related to amendments to the Elections Act will be held today (Monday, October 16). The briefing will take place in the Media Centre, Ground Floor, East Block, Confederation Building, at 12:30 p.m. The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General, will be available to answer questions immediately following the technical briefing.

Yesterday, the Provincial Government, along with the Newfoundland and Labrador Foster Families Association and foster families throughout the province, celebrated the kick-off to National Foster Families Week, which takes place October 15-21. National Foster Families Week is held annually during the third week of October.

During the St. John’s Farmers’ Market tomorrow (Saturday, October 14) at 1:30 p.m., the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will join Josh Smee, Chair of the St. John’s Farmers’ Market Co-operative, and Valerie Carruthers, from the Newfoundland-Labrador Federation of Co-operatives to sign a proclamation to officially mark October 15-21 as Co-op Week across Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, will speak at the 25th Annual Provincial Association of Early Childhood Educators of Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL) Conference tomorrow (Saturday, October 14). The conference is being held at the Holiday Inn, Portugal Cove Road, St. John’s. The minister will speak at approximately 8:45 a.m.

The Governments of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada celebrated two new Habitat for Humanity homes today for families in Corner Brook. The three-bedroom homes are the result of a $170,000 contribution through the 2014-2019 Investment in Affordable Housing (IAH) Agreement.
