Mr. Speaker, the power and presence of Newfoundland and Labrador’s fish and seafood industry was on display at the 2018 Boston Seafood show. From March 11 to 13, the event attracted over 22,000 industry representatives from more than 120 countries.

Mr. Speaker, work-related mental stress conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are impacting workplaces across Canada, including here in Newfoundland and Labrador. Late last fall, I met with stakeholders to seek input on the prevention of, and compensation for, work-related mental stress issues.

The Provincial Government is introducing amendments to the Family Violence Protection Act to better support adult victims of domestic violence and their children. The amendments will expand the definition of family violence to include emotional, psychological and financial harm.

The event takes place at Centre des Grands-Vents, 65 Ridge Road, St. John’s, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

In an effort to increase access to mental wellness information and early intervention services, Bridge the gApp has been redesigned for improved access. Bridge the gApp, a free online mental health resource, instantly connects people to self-help information, tools and local supports through a searchable service directory. The website can be viewed at bridgethegapp.ca.

Mark Browne, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation, will bring greetings to a Business and Arts NL workshop tomorrow (Thursday, March 15).The event takes place at the Rocket Bakery, 272 Water St, St. John's, at 10:00 a.m.

The briefing will take place in the Media Centre, Ground Floor, East Block, Confederation Building, at 11:30 a.m. The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General, will be available to answer questions at 12:00 p.m. following the technical briefing.
