Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission -- An independent human rights board of inquiry in the matter of Timothy Parsons vs. Bedford Investments Ltd., operating as Sunnyside Restaurant and True North Diner, will begin June 1 in Halifax.

Health and Wellness -- Surgical and specialist teams across the province are making progress in reducing the wait list for surgery, completing thousands more operations and procedures last year than before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lieutenant-Governor -- Harbourside Engineering Group, in collaboration with Englobe Corporation, has been named the 2023 recipient of the Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Excellence in Engineering for work on the Peggy’s Cove Infrastructure Design Project.

Education and Early Childhood Development / Premier's Office -- Les élèves francophones de la Côte Est de la Nouvelle-Écosse fréquenteront une nouvelle école moderne qui remplacera l’École des Beaux-Marais.

Education and Early Childhood Development / Premier's Office -- Francophone students on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore will attend a new, modern school that will replace École des Beaux-Marais.

Premier's Office -- Premier Tim Houston will visit the United Kingdom, Denmark and France from May 20 - 28 to strengthen trade and investment partnerships and collaboration on healthcare innovation.

Office of Addictions and Mental Health -- Residents of Colchester, Cumberland and Hants counties will soon have access to more services and support in their communities, including health, wellness and community transportation.

Health and Wellness -- The number of doctors in Nova Scotia continues to grow and more new doctors are caring for Nova Scotians. There were 168 doctors who started practising in Nova Scotia from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. Nova Scotia Health hired 155 doctors and the IWK Health hired 13 doctors during the last year. The net gain is 86 physicians.

Justice -- The report on the first independent review of the Accessibility Act was released today, May 17.

Community Services -- Young people who need a safe, supportive place to call home will soon have an option in Glace Bay, a first in the region.
