As people across the globe join together to honour and celebrate International Women’s Day, B.C. is set to begin consultations on new pay transparency legislation.

Premier John Horgan and Grace Lore, Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity, have issued the following statement for International Women’s Day:

New legislation will modernize B.C. law for liens so that service providers can more easily understand and use liens and their customers can protect their rights to their own property.

Budget 2022 reverses cuts made in 2002, supporting survivors of sexual assault with $22 million to provide stable funding for community-based sexual assault response services.

Budget 2022 is investing more than ever before to help people and communities make the transition to a cleaner, stronger economy through the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030.

Budget 2022 reflects the choices government is making that are needed to build a stronger B.C. and make life better for people, by investing in B.C.’s economic, environmental and social strengths.

The Province is launching a bold, new long-term economic plan that moves British Columbia forward by tackling the challenges of today while growing an economy that works for more people and families.

Premier John Horgan; Hli Haykwhl Ẃii X̱sgaak, Melanie Mark, MLA for Vancouver-Mount Pleasant; Grace Lore, Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity; and Murray Rankin, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, have issued the following statement to acknowledge the annual Women’s Memorial March:

The Province and Union of BC Municipalities will work together to review the local government finance system in B.C.  to ensure that municipal governments and regional districts remain resilient in the face of economic changes.

In partnership with the Government of Canada, the Province and BC Hydro are reducing rates and lowering the costs of connecting to the electricity grid to help industries, public transportation agencies and neighbourhood energy systems reduce greenhouse gas emissions and attract new clean tech industries to British Columbia.

The province is delivering relief to small- and medium-sized forestry businesses for the extra costs of keeping their employees and communities safe, while operating through the COVID-19 pandemic.
