The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources, Fish and Wildlife Enforcement, is seeking the public’s assistance relating to an incident where two moose are alleged to have been illegally killed on or about October 14, 2017, near the Dunrovin Motel in Lethbridge.

The Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, has announced that applications can be submitted for the Energy Efficiency Loan Program beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, October 31). The program is fully funded by the Provincial Government and will be delivered in partnership with takeCHARGE, an energy efficiency initiative of Newfoundland Power and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro.

Transportation and Works

A road construction pilot project that will help government determine the best type of asphalt for our province’s climate and traffic volumes is currently underway on the Trans-Canada Highway on the Avalon Peninsula.

The event takes place at Gower Street United Church, 99 Queen’s Road, St. John’s beginning at 12:00 p.m.

The Labrador Training Centre Pool in Happy Valley-Goose Bay will close for maintenance on Monday, October 30. The pool is expected to re-open on or about Saturday, November 4. The closure is to allow for maintenance work in the washrooms.

The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced that John Roil, QC, has been appointed as independent mediator to help facilitate a resolution to the labour dispute between DJ Composites and Unifor Local 597.

A ceremony was held today to mark the official opening of Eastside Elementary, a K-6 school located in Corner Brook. Today, the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, joined by the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, and Andreas Souvaliotis, founder and CEO of Carrot Rewards, celebrated reaching the milestone of having more than 31,000 Carrot Rewards users in Newfoundland and Labrador. This surpasses the goal of engaging 10,000 new users by March 31, 2018.

The announcement will take place at Wildlife Division offices located at 117 Riverside Drive (Brake’s Cove), Corner Brook, at 10:30 a.m.
