Premier Stephen McNeil announced almost a million dollars today, Oct. 28, for equipment to keep first responders safe.
Support for Bryony House and Victims of Domestic Violence
Community Services -- The Governments of Canada and Nova Scotia are investing in the replacement of Bryony House, a 24-bed shelter for women and children in Halifax, who are victims of domestic violence. Up to $3 million will be committed for the construction of a new building that can better meet the needs of families.

Atlantic Canada's Auditors General Release Joint Report on the Atlantic Lottery Corporation
Auditor General -- The Auditors General of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador tabled a report, at their respective legislative assemblies, today, Oct. 26, on the results of their joint audit of the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC). The Auditor General of Newfoundland and Labrador did not participate in the audit of the governance section of the report. The last performance audit of ALC by Auditors General was in 1996.

Education and Early Childhood Development -- NOTE: The following is a statement from Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Karen Casey.
The outcome of this evening's vote is a disappointment for parents and students, and for government. This vote comes after reaching two tentative agreements -- both recommended by the Nova Scotia Teachers' Union to its membership.
